Rodney Hsu has been operating a popular recreational fishing website called Fishing with Rod since 2001. Based in Vancouver BC, he primarily fish for salmon, trout and steelhead in the Lower Fraser River and its tributaries. While Rod enjoys travelling across British Columbia and seeking for the next prized catches, he also loves exploring new urban fishing opportunities and sharing his discoveries with other anglers.
Beside running his website, he and his wife Nina also have a YouTube channel where regular online fishing videos are broadcasted. With more than 300 videos, 5,000 subscribers and 5 million total views, it’s one of the most viewed fishing channel on YouTube. His videos take viewers across British Columbia, showcasing exciting fisheries that are available for anglers of all ages and skill levels to take part in.
When not fishing or working on his web projects, Hsu enjoys volunteering in the recreational fishing community. Currently he is a representative of the Sport Fishing Advisory Committee in the Lower Fraser and a public advisor of the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC. By working with different government agencies, both positions allow him to develop new recreational fishing opportunities in British Columbia. Recently, he has also become a director of the BC Family Fishing Weekend, an annual weekend event that allows the general public to take part in recreational fishing for free.
